Create a family tree online
Add generations on one canvas. Every card connects to a page with photos and stories about that person or pet.
Start with the people you know
Open the Family tree tab on a person’s page. Add a parent, a child or a spouse. Choose an existing page or create a new one as you build the tree. Photographs and detailed descriptions can come later.
You do not need to know every ancestor or exact date. Begin with the part of your family you know, then extend branches above parents and below children as you learn more.
Generations on one canvas
The plus above a card adds its parent; the one below adds a child. Continue another branch without moving to a separate tree. Drag with a mouse or finger, and zoom with the wheel, a two-finger gesture or the controls.
The overview shows how generations fit together, and expanding the canvas gives you more room. Select a card to see its relationships and available actions. Removing your connection is separate from permanently deleting a page you created.
Shared children and different chapters of life
When adding a child, you can choose a second parent straight away. Suggestions include current and former partners and people with existing shared children. You can also leave just one known parent.
Use shared parents when adding a sibling. Spouses and partners are separate connections: having a partner does not automatically make them a parent. You record the relationships you know.
Pet ancestry and litter tags
Cats, dogs and other animals can have parents and offspring in a tree too. Species and breed are optional. Use existing pet pages while keeping their descriptions and memories.
Give puppies or kittens from one litter a shared tag. Highlight it to find them on the canvas while keeping other cards and connections visible. This records the relationships you know; it does not replace an official pedigree certificate.
Your family tree and close circle are separate
An ancestor may not belong in your close circle. A friend or pet can be close without a family relationship. Adding a page to the tree therefore does not automatically add it to your circle.
An existing page can be used in both places. You choose the tree’s relationships, your close circle and access to the material separately. Readers see only the pages they are allowed to view.
Build your first branch
- Open a person’s or pet’s page and select Family tree.
- Choose an existing relative’s page or create a new one.
- Continue branches from their cards and add details as you learn more.
